It was only a few weeks ago that Mercedes-Benz CEO Dieter Zetsche laid out his global sales vision for the brand, aiming to be the world’s Number One luxury automaker by 2020 with 2.7 million annual sales. One component of that plan is building another plant in North America, and a report by the TheDetroitBureau.com indicates that the plant will be built in Aguascalientes, Mexico – right next to a Nissan assembly plant that’s already there.

Nissan recently announced a two billion dollar expansion of its Aguascalientes facility to produce up to 175,000 units annually. According to the Bureau report, “the sprawling Aguascalientes complex has been laid out with the idea that the German maker will eventually participate.” Daimler hasn’t commented officially, but if it does happen, then that would give Daimler and Renault-Nissan two tie-up locations, the other being in Tennessee where Nissan will be making engines for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class (a prototype for which is shown above).

One of the factors at the heart of the Mexico decision would be Mercedes’ MFA platform, which supports the A- and B-Class vehicles soon headed here: that platform is also expected to underpin the production Infiniti Etherea. And if Renault-Nissan CEO can be believed, then a great deal more sharing between the two firms is an eventuality, and further up the food chain at that. Ghosn is reported to have said last year, “You’d be very surprised if in five or six years that Mercedes and Renault-Nissan had only cooperated on small cars.”

With a car like this comfort is an important factor; you will find that you are more comfortable in this car than you would be on your living room sofa. Road imperfections are just about imperceptible and the climate control system and sound insulation means that even long motorway journeys are a joy from which you will emerge as refreshed as when you set out.

The performance is just about anything you might wish it to be, You can opt for one of the more modest and economical diesel or petrol engines that provide perfectly adequate performance for most purposes or if you are so inclined you can go for the larger 3.0 litre V6 diesel or the 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine both of which churn out around 230 bhp. If you are completely crazy you could opt for the C63 AMG version which is powered by a totally insane 6.3 litre V8 petrol engine which delivers a heart stopping 457 bhp.

Apart from the early A-Class, there has never been a Mercedes that has had poor handling, but the handling of the C-Class is exceptional even by the very high Mercedes standards. The car does all that is asked of it in the toughest of conditions; it is very versatile.

The car is a very practical solution as either a family saloon or a compact executive car. There is ample storage (475 litres) in the boot of the saloon but if you need a cavernous load space then the estate version can provide 1,500 litres. The car is also very safe, well specified with excellent levels of equipment. If you are in the market for a cheap Mercedes-Benz C-Class, you can find this and many other used cars for sale online at very reasonable prices.

It’s getting darn near impossible for automakers to keep their latest wares hidden from view until they are good and ready to show them. Such is the case with Mercedes-Benz, who’s latest SL has leaked to the internet courtesy of the crew at Autoblog.nl.

If we had to guess, we’d say these images come from a brochure of some sort, and they show the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL from the front and rear, along with the top up and down. We also get a lone shot of the interior, and though it’s all in various shades of black and white, everything looks just as polished and stately as we’d expect from M-B’s range-topping non-AMG machine.

We know that the 2013 SL will be a few hundred pounds lighter than its predecessor, but we don’t yet know what range of engines will be in the “S-Class of Roadsters.” We’d guess a few V8 options with the vestigial V12 hanging around for at least one more generation.
